Monday, September 7

The Library will be closed in honor of Labor Day and will reopen Tuesday, September 8 at 10am.

 

Weekly Events

Lego Club:  Mondays at 5:00pm 

The Library’s Lego Club is your (kindergarten through middle school) child's chance to collaborate with other Master Builders on their own designs or special building challenges.

 

Family Night: Tuesdays at 6:30pm, beginning September 15th 

Family Night, an evening Story Hour for all ages, is a weekly program which is scheduled to run through December 15

 

Little Picassos - Wednesdays at 10:15, beginning 9/23/15

Bring your 3-5 year old children and let them practice their artistry with messy things! We will be using things like glitter, glue, water, paints, and many other messy things...you know, all the stuff kids love to mess with but that are a no-no in the house, so be sure to dress appropriately!

 

Puppets: Wednesdays at 4:30, beginning September 30

Children in first through fourth grades are invited to come every week to this free program to make a puppet and work on a puppet show which will be presented to family and friends during the final class on November 11.

 

Wiggles and Giggles - Thursdays at 10:15, beginning 9/24/15

 

Wiggles and Giggles is a movement class for children ages 2-4 years.  We will be moving to music and singing songs that require movement. Join us for some wiggles and lots of fun!!

 

Popcorn & a Movie: Saturdays at noon

Join us each week in the teen lounge and enjoy some free hot, buttered popcorn while taking in a movie on the big screen. Check our website or Facebook page for titles.

 

Of Dice and Men - Roleplaying Games: Saturdays at 2

The library hosts weekly tabletop gaming sessions and we play a variety of games, most notably Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu.  Teens and adults are welcome and newcomers are encouraged to come an hour early to set up characters for play.

 

Story Time – Monday through Thursday mornings beginning September 21

A variety of programs for children from 9 months to 5 years old are offered during the school year to help promote early literacy skills. Check our website calendar to find the days and times appropriate for your child or call the children’s desk.

Wednesday, September 9

Are You Getting What You Pay For? 2:00pm

Do you ever feel “ripped off” at the register? Or question whether or not you’re actually getting a full gallon of gas at the pump? Have you noticed that packages are shrinking, and yet prices are rising? Your shopping trips will never be the same after this entertaining and educational presentation packed with consumer information. Pre-registration was requested, but if you haven’t done so, it might not be too late…call the library to see if spaces are still available!

Preventing Falls: 10:30-11:30

Join us again this month for our Healthy Living program! This month, you’ll have the chance to learn some tips for preventing falls and to get your wheelchair or walker checked for safety. If you don’t have mobility issues, you can still come in for a bone density screening and blood pressure check.

 

Sunday, September 13

Lunch with Friends

We hope that you’ll join the Friends in supporting the Frank Sarris Public Library. The annual luncheon this year will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn (Southpointe).

 

Monday, September 14 

Regional Book Club:  6pm

If you’re a fan of local novelists, you’ll want to be sure to check out this Book Club! This month, we’ll be enjoying light refreshments while discussing The Women by T. Coraghessan Boyle. Join us and share your thoughts!

 

Wednesday, September 16

Winterizing Your Garden and Yard: 6pm

Join us for this special presentation by a Master Gardener and learn how to best winterize your outdoor space.

 

Thursday, September 17

Jane Austen Book Club:  4pm

Come to the Jane Austen Book Club to discuss Mansfield Park, enjoy light refreshments, and share your thoughts on this classic!

 

Saturday, September 19

Birthday Celebration

We will be commemorating the legacy of our most generous benefactor, Frank Sarris, with a birthday celebration in his honor. There will be cake, arts and crafts, and it will be a chocolate –themed event to which all are welcome!

 

Saturday, September 26

Non-Fiction Book Club: 3pm

Pick up a copy of Andrew Morton’s 17 Carnations: The Royals, the Nazis, and the Biggest Cover-up in History and join us for a lively discussion.

 

Wednesday, September 30

Embellish a Jar: 6:30pm`

Adults and high school students are invited to sign up now and join us to embellish a storage jar with burlap and lace. The $2 per person fee covers the materials for the jar you take home at the end of the night. This class is limited to 11 people so sign-up soon!
