Ongoing Events

Lego Club

Mondays at 5pm 
Children in grades K-8 collaborate with other Master Builders on their own designs or special building challenges.

Family Night

Tuesdays at 6:30pm 
Evening Story Hour for all ages - offers theme stories, games, and activities to share. Please check our website for information about the weekly theme. The themes this month include: Ancient Egypt, gold, go bananas, and emotions.

Table Top Gaming

Wednesdays 3-6pm

With more than twenty games to choose from, we would like to invite you and your friends to stop by and play a few!  We have classics like Monopoly, Scrabble and Catan, along with popular newcomers like Pandemic, Small World, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. If you can’t make this organized playing time, feel free to stop by anytime to play.

Story Time

Monday-Thursday mornings

Programs for children 9 months to 5 years old are offered during the school year to promote early literacy skills. Check our website calendar for days and times appropriate for your child, call the children’s desk, or email Miss Barb at bsomma@franksarrislibrary.org.

Little Picassos

Wednesday mornings at 10:15am

Children ages 3 – 4 years old along with their fun loving adult can join Miss Barb at the Library to do a craft with messy things like glitter, glue, water, paints, etc. Dress appropriately to get messy!

Wiggles and Giggles

Thursday mornings at 10:15am

This is a motion class for 2 – 5 year olds.  We will be moving and dancing for 35 – 40 minutes, so no sitting! Email questions to Miss Barb at bsomma@franksarrislibrary.org.

Popcorn & a Movie

Saturdays at 12pm 
Join us each week in the Teen Lounge and enjoy some free hot, buttered popcorn while taking in a movie on the big screen. Check our website for titles.

Of Dice and Men - Roleplaying Games

Saturdays at 2pm

Weekly tabletop roleplaying gaming sessions; we play a variety of games, most notably Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu. For Teens and adults; newcomers should come an hour early to set up characters for play.

Page Turners (High School Students) Book Club 5-7pm

Join us in the Teen Lounge to discuss Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin.  We will also do other activities related to the book.

 

Wednesday 10/12

Western Pennsylvania Paranormal Hunters 6:30pm

The Western Pennsylvania Paranormal Hunters are coming to the library! T.J. Porfeli and his team will talk about what they do and the ghostly places they’ve been. There will be a Q&A session. This group has been featured on WTAE news. Articles about them have appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, South Hills Living Magazine, and the Observer Reporter. The program is free and no registration is required.

 

Monday 10/17

Teen Advisory Board 6-7pm

Students in grades 7 - 12 meet monthly to plan, organize and lead activities that will engage and benefit library patrons and members of the community.  Planned activities can be fun, educational, or service related, and they can be for anyone of any age. If you are a student who is interested in making a difference at your library and in your community, visit our website or call for more information.
