The Nutcracker Review: A great show for adults and kids!

I had the pleasure of attending an opening weekend performance of The Nutcracker this season. It has become a holiday tradition cherished by my oldest. It is our mother/daughter night that we both look forward to every year. It is a classic and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) never disappoints. They even throw in some humor and fresh twists each year.

You are welcomed to the theater by the beautiful set. We always try and get there early to enjoy the surroundings and read the program. We like to read about how the PBT has weaved Pittsburgh character into this holiday classic. You can also read the story of the Nutcracker in the program which we do. My daughter now reads the program herself but that wasn't always the case. We have a child version of the book and I highly recommend getting one if you are taking a younger child. Knowing the back story helps the show unfold so beautifully. 

The Nutcracker is a timeless classic that you shouldn't miss. Make some special memories this season, that will stay with your child for years to come. There are many performances throughout the holiday season.
