Our Review of The Nutcracker

December 17, 2014
My daughter and I had a wonderful mother-daughter day attending The Nutcracker. It has become a tradition for us. As soon as there was talk of the holidays this year, she started asking if we could go. This is one tradition that doesn't get old. I discover something new each time I see the show. My daughter asked me why the girl's name is Marie and not Clara. You see, she has been reading a book and the main character's name is Clara. The Nutcracker Ballet developed from two versions of a book, the girl’s name is sometimes named "Clara" and sometimes "Marie." The show put on but the PBT is from Hoffmann’s tale- the girl’s name is Marie or Maria, while Clara – is the name of one of her dolls.
We were anxiously anticipating the classic music that we have love. I steal glances at my daughter and see the smile that spreads across her face when her favorites come to life. Her favorite part is when the Sugar Plum Fairy comes out. As a little ballerina herself she loves to watch her twirl across the floor. My favorite is the dance of the snowflakes. Beautiful dancing, music, and setting - what's not to love?
If you haven't seen The Nutcracker now is the time to start a new holiday tradition.
