Library Explorers:  Mondays at 5:30pm (through May 18)
This is a time for students in grades K-5 to play and discover something new at the library! With a different topic each week, you'll want to be sure to bring your child.

Lego Club:  Tuesdays at 5:00pm (through May 19)
The Library Lego Club is your (kindergarten through middle school) child's chance to collaborate with other Master Builders on their own designs or special building challenges.

Family Night: Tuesdays at 6:30 (through May 19)
The Family Night program is a storytime for all ages, and each week explores differently themed stories, crafts, and games. No registration is necessary – just drop in!

Are you a fan of local novelists? You’ll want to be sure to check out this Monday Night Book Club! For May, we’ll be enjoying light refreshments while discussing Jennifer Haigh’s Baker Towers. Join us and share your thoughts!

Block Party: 5:00-7:00pm
Be sure to bring your child to the library’s block party! We offer soft blocks for the very young, large wooden blocks for pre-school and up, and Legos for older children.

Jane Austen Book Club:  4pm
Come discuss Pride & Prejudice with us while enjoying themed refreshments. We look forward to hearing you share your thoughts on this classic!

Summer Reading Sneak Peek: 6:00-7:30
Join us for a “Sneak Peek”…See what this year’s theme will be and what fun activities we‘re planning for this summer. Party-goers will be able to register for SRC on the spot, one week before registration officially begins!

Summer Reading Club Registration
You won’t want to wait ‘til the last minute to register your child for Summer Reading! Three weeks are being offered for grades 1-4 and there will be two weeks for children in 5-8th grades. Registration ends Friday, June 19th or when all (50) spaces are taken.

Million Minute Challenge
Summer reading isn’t just for kids – we want EVERYONE to track the reading they do over the summer months. Supplies for recording your minutes spent reading will be available at the library beginning June 1.

Art Gallery Reception: 3pm
We hope that you’ll join us for the reception in honor of Kim McAuley, a Canon-McMillan graduate who went on to study photography at the New York Institute of Photography.

Come to the Jane Austen Book Club to discuss Northanger Abbey and enjoy light refreshments. Share your thoughts and help us make selections for the future!
Thursday, 6/25
Hiking the Appalachian Trail:  6pm
We hope you’ll join us for this presentation by a local resident who, in 2013, set out to hike the 2,185 miles of the Appalachian Trail. His journey that year began at the southern end of the trail at Springer Mountain and continued through several states, concluding in Rutland, Vermont. This year, he’s expecting to finish the trail but before he sets out, he’ll be at the library to share his experiences to date.

Non-fiction Book Club
The Non-Fiction Book Club meets one Saturday at 3pm each month to discuss books with a wide variety of topics. Past choices include Man’s Search for Meaning (Frankl), The Devil and the White City (Larson), and The Tipping Point (Gladwell). Accelerated Reader
Canon-McMillan students are able to earn Accelerated Reading points at the library, even during the summer months! We have a computer in the Children's Department reserved exclusively for testing.
