Open Door Nursery takes great pride in nurturing young children within our community for over 50 years!! Founded in 1971 as an outreach program of the First United Presbyterian Church of Houston, the school has helped thousands of students increase self-esteem, expand intellectually and develop life-long social skills. Our caring staff strives to provide the opportunity for our students to interact with other children in a setting conducive to the development of wholesome social relationships, and to aid their physical, emotional, intellectual, and Christian spiritual development.
Our program includes classes for 3-year-olds (Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30-11:30), and 4-5 year-olds (Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00-11:30). Classes begin with group instruction, when the project of the day (worksheet or craft) is discussed and calendar reviewed. The remainder of the day includes one-on-one or group work with the teacher, free time for supervised play in one or more of our 6 rooms, snack, and a story. Music, art and physical education are also included as part of our routine, as well.
