A Review of The Nutcracker

By Alexandra Stitt December 8, 2017

There are many different versions of the Nutcracker, and Pittsburgh has the best one. This performance has 13 connections to our city. Two of them are featured in the backdrops. The first backdrop, the house, is a Pittsburgh connection. The Stahlbaum house was used for this scene. Another Pittsburgh backdrop is from the snow scene. It shows a snowy view from the top of Mt. Washington. This ballet has many complicated dances. The Sugar Plum Fairy has the most difficult with the snowflakes in second.

I really enjoyed this performance because I used to dance ballet and I realize all the hard work that goes into this one performance. The dancers can have up to 8 different roles! I have been going to the PBT Nutcracker with my mom for many years. I canโ€™t imagine our Christmas without this tradition. We always enjoy all of the acts, and the music is our favorite. I love the energetic dances that have beautiful costumes that follow the wonderful story-line. I love the Nutcracker and canโ€™t wait to see it again next year.
