Pittsburgh’s Favorite Holiday Experience Returns Fri., Nov. 20

Tickets on Sale Today for Phipps Conservatory’s Winter Flower Show: Home for the Holidays

November 4, 2020

Pittsburgh, PA – Starting today, members of Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will be able to reserve tickets to experience Winter Flower Show: Home for the Holidays. Tickets for the general public will be on sale the following week, starting Mon., Nov. 9. Tickets will be made available on a week-by-week basis, allowing guests to reserve tickets up to four weeks in advance of their visit.

With a canopy of twinkling lights, fragrant decorated trees, and, of course, thousands of poinsettias in a wide variety of hues and patterns, friends and families can create special holiday memories at Home for the Holidays. Guests will delight at the creative displays brought to life in a way only Phipps can, including Phipps’ magical carousel floating on a glassy pond, a cozy cabin sitting snugly amidst a snowy forest of blue, purple, white and silver plants, a topiary animal display that explores winter hibernation habits, and a living room scene featuring furniture — such as armchairs, a grandfather clock, chandeliers and tree skirts — brought to life with plant materials.

Of course, plants are the star of this and every show at Phipps, and thousands of beautiful and unusual winter plants will fill the beds under the glowing and twinkling lights. Guests can marvel at poinsettia trees made up of 50 poinsettias each, and look for unique varieties, such as Euphorbia ‘Christmas Mouse,’ which has small rounded bracts resembling mouse ears, and Euphorbia ‘Diamond Snow,’ which has pure white bracts that look like they’re covered in freshly fallen snow.

To protect guest safety, Phipps will significantly limit crowd capacity and the outdoor Winter Light Garden will be on hiatus this year, but a number of the fan-favorite colorful orbs and cones will make appearances in the winding display beds of the Serpentine Room and other spaces.

Winter Flower Show: Home for the Holidays runs from Nov. 20 – Jan. 3. Hours are 9:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. daily. Phipps will be closed all day Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Dec. 25 and will close at 5 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 24. Tickets must be reserved in advance and are available for presale starting today for Phipps members and Mon., Nov. 9 for the general public.
