Welcome to a summer camp experience like no other! The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is hosting STEAM-focused summer camps for children ages 6 – 12. Camp hours are 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Our STEAM Camps are designed to ignite the curiosity and creativity of young minds, blending history with hands-on STEAM activities. At the heart of our STEAM Camps is the perfect fusion of innovation and history. Campers will dive into the captivating world of trolleys, exploring the museum’s historic collection and learning about the technological marvels that revolutionized transportation.

All camps include behind-the-scenes tours, interactive guided tours of our collection of artifacts and historic streetcars, time to explore our 21,000 square foot Welcome and Education Center exhibit galleries, and rides on several of our fully-restored antique trolleys. This summer, campers can also enjoy brand-new interactive exhibits all about the streetcar era! Enroll your child in a program that sparks their interest in learning and a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity for your child to have a summer full of fun, exploration, new friendships and memories, and STEAM-fueled adventures!

LEGO® Camp

Ages 6 – 8

Our most popular camp is back again this summer: Join us for a week of LEGO® themed building challenges, artistic creations, and more! Explore the world of engineering while making models, investigate motion with cars and ziplines, then test out gears and simple machines. Create a brick self-portrait, then try painting with bricks! Design and create a LEGO® Town and Trolley Park, then ride down the rails aboard the LEGO Coding Express®.

New this year: Campers will also spend time with LEGO® Education BricQ Motion kits that will allow them to experiment with forces, motion, and interactions without the need for technology.

DATES

LEGO® Engineering Camp

Ages 9 – 12

Explore the world of engineering and the forces of physics, then compete to build the tallest towers, longest bridges, and fastest vehicles. Design a paper airplane launcher, construct interactive carnival games, turn the classroom into a Brick-themed mini-golf course, and race through marble run mazes. Finish the week by building sets, props, and characters entirely out of LEGOs® to create a stop motion movie masterpiece!

New this year: Campers will also spend time with LEGO® Education BricQ Motion kits that will allow them to experiment with forces, motion, and interactions without the need for technology.

NEW: History Explorers Camp

Ages 6 – 8

Step back into the past and discover what life was like over 150 years ago! Explore how people historically traveled long distances, such as with sailboats crossing the rivers and oceans, covered wagons traveling the Oregon Trail, and riding from the country into the big city aboard an electric streetcar. Play popular games from days of old, then get hands-on with traditional arts and crafts. Make historic recipes for different foods and candy, identify native plants and their uses, then try growing your own fruits and vegetables.

It’s full STEAM ahead in a camp dedicated to all things science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Design, build, and test the tallest towers, longest bridges, and strongest structures. Explore the history of transportation from trolleys and trains to boats, cars, and planes. Construct working circuits out of playdough, make a batch of streetcar slime, and shrink a trolley down to pocket-size!

Extreme STEAM Camp

Ages 9 – 12

Discover how science, history, and technology come together as we explore the past and plan for the future! Make a working instrument out of fruits and vegetables, then design and build electrifying inventions for a new “Smart Streetcar” using Makey Makey technology. Whip up a fresh batch of conductive playdough to make real working circuits, then explore solar-powered vehicles and renewable energy sources. Spend a day learning to code with Sphero Robotics to drive through obstacle courses, then design and race robot-powered horsecars. Unleash your inner innovator!
