Summer Reading registration will begin on Monday, May 23rd. Information and registration forms will be found in the Kids section of our website.
The Frank Sarris Public Library will be closed Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day).

Weekly Events
Story Time meets Monday through Thursday mornings and continues through May 12
Programs for children from 9 months to 5 years old are offered to promote early literacy skills. Check our website to find days and times appropriate for your child or call us.

Lego Club:  Mondays at 5:00pm
The Lego Club is your (kindergarten - middle school) child's chance to collaborate with other Master Builders on their own designs or special building challenges.

Family Night: Tuesdays at 6:30pm through May 24
Family Night, an evening Story Hour for all ages, offers themes stories, games, and activities to share. Please check our website for information about the weekly theme, and to see when Family Night will return (after a brief intermission).

Little Picassos: Wednesdays at 10:15 through May 12
Bring your 3-5 year old children and let them practice their artistry with messy things like glitter, glue, water, paints, and more...you know, all the stuff kids love to mess with but that are a no-no in the house, so be sure to dress appropriately!

Wednesdays at 4:30: Obstacle Course
Are your 1st through 4th graders tired of staying indoors? Sign them up for this activity, and give them the chance to run an indoor obstacle course! Each session is limited to 30 children – sign up for one or both. A fee of $1 per child each session is required.

Wiggles & Giggles: Thursdays at 10:15 through May 12
This is a movement class for children ages 2-4 years.  We will be moving to music and singing songs that require movement. Join us for some wiggles and lots of fun!!

Popcorn & a Movie: Saturdays at noon
Join us each week in the teen lounge and enjoy some free hot, buttered popcorn while taking in a movie on the big screen. Check our website or Facebook page for titles.

Of Dice and Men - Roleplaying Games: Saturdays at 2
The library hosts weekly tabletop gaming sessions and we play a variety of games, most notably Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu.  Teens and adults are welcome and newcomers are encouraged to come an hour early to set up characters for play.

Lock-in at the Library
Friday, May 13 from 7-10pm
This after-hours event is for 7th and 8th grade students ONLY. Tickets are $3 per person and MUST be purchased in advance at the Children's Desk. The Advisory Board event will include a video gaming area, dodge ball, the Clue movie, snacks, music, and a live action Clue mystery game.????????

Due to the overwhelming response of our April Paint and Sip event, we will have another one on Tuesday, June 14 from 6-8pm. Come to paint with us. $20 per person, no experience needed, all materials and refreshments included.  Paint your own 11 by 14 canvas of acrylic painting to take home, perfect for your own enjoyment or as a gift to a loved one.  Please sign up early to avoid disappointment.  Class size is limited to 15.

Collectors’ Club: 6:30pm
If you’re interested in sports memorabilia, you’ll want to mark your calendar to attend! Come to meet and build relationships with other collectors, help each other build better collections, and discuss the subject of the day and the history of sport collecting and collectibles.

Saturday, May 7
Pastel painting demonstration (2-3pm) and Gallery reception (3-5pm)
Karen Ferrick, a Signature Member of the Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League, will create an initial sketch on sanded paper, then demonstrate under painting and glazing techniques with beautifully colored pastels. Ms. Ferrick will have both pastel and oil paintings on display in the Athena Sarris Art Gallery, through the month of May.

Pack a lunch and join us to discuss Unless by Carol Shields. We’ll provide the beverages, so mark your calendar to bring a lunch and join us to talk about this novel.

We’re talking about The Speechwriter by Barton Swaim, so be sure to mark your calendar and join us for the discussion!

Adult Coloring “Club”: 3pm
Coloring can be beneficial to adults! If you’ve been interested in giving coloring a try, we hope that you’ll join us. Bring a friend, and bring your own supplies or use ours. Everyone is welcome to practice this informal art therapy while enjoying refreshments.
