Summer is here! I've got a super easy butterfly craft that is great for even small unskilled hands. This is a craft that MK does at local events. Now you can do it at home without much effort at all!.
Supplies needed:
Coffee filters (MK moms need their coffee!)
markers
pipe cleaners (cut in half)
spray bottle (water) or a hose if you're outside.
Give each child a coffee filter, markers, and let the creative juices flow! Guide them not to press to hard in one spot so the filter doesn't tear. If there are just a few scribbles from the littlest macaronis not to worry - when you get to the last step of lightly misting with water, it will blend the colors and make it into a work of art. Pinch the center together and wrap the pipe cleaner around it make the antennae and fluff the wings back out. You can spray the filter either before of after you make it into a butterfly. (When we are at events we do not spray the craft so parents aren't carrying around a wet craft - we tell them they can spray it at home). It is a neat thing for the kids to watch their butterfly transform into a work of art with a little spritz of water.
Tip: Have something beneath the coffee filter because the markers can bleed through onto the table!
