August Happenings at Frank Sarris Library

  • Tuesday, August 5th is the last day your child can read to a Tail Taggin' Tutor. Call now to register.
  • The non-fiction book club will be taking a break in August. Please check the website for information about September's selection and meeting.
  • The Fiction Book Club will be discussing The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro for the Wednesday, August 6 (6:30 pm) meeting.
  • Join us each Thursday at 6:30 for Family Nights - a storytime for all ages from toddler to adult - to explore differently themed stories, crafts, and games. Register by calling the library or stopping by the Children’s Desk.
  • Coupon Club Continues! Join us on Wednesday, August 13 from 6:30 to 8pm to find coupons you need and share the ones you don't. Expired coupons will be donated to the VA in Washington.
  • Come visit our archives and genealogy room to get one-on-one help with your research! Join us for Open Archives on Wednesday, August 20 from 6:30-8pm.
  • The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, August 21 at 6pm. New members are welcome!
  • Bring your current project to the library on Wednesday, August 27 and socialize with other crafty-types as we knit, crochet, and cross stitch from 6:30-8pm.
  • Lego robots return to the library in August. Kids ages 10 and up can learn how to build and program Lego Mindstorm EV3 robots Mondays from 3-4:30pmCall or stop in to register.
  • Do you need help with your Kindle, tablet, or Nook? Bring in your device any Tuesday or Thursday in August from 4-5pm to learn how to use it to download eBooks for free using our online catalog.

  • Canon-McMillan students can come to the library and get a jump on their Accelerated Reading points. We have a computer in the Children's Department reserved exclusively for testing.
